RIT, PASS and Firefighter Rescue
The OSHA two in two out rule mandates that firefighters utilize rapid intervention teams. These rapid intervention teams carry specialized equipment for the access and egress of compromise firefighters. This rapid intervention equipment includes additional lighting, specialized structures and firefighter carrying devices, portable forcible entry tools and supplemental breathing equipment for the down firefighter. Firefighters standards stipulate that firefighters should all be equipped with personal accountability sounding systems that is usually high-pitched frequency which aids in the location of the down firefighter. These PASS devices can be turned on by the firefighter or should automatically turn on if the firefighter becomes motionless.
