Water Supply Equipment :
The fire service has a wide variety of water supply equipment. Rural firefighters utilize pools and tanks to store water which must be brought to the scene from remote locations. These tanks and pools are filled by specialized units which have rapid deployment shoots allowing vast amounts of water to be dropped into these tanks quickly. The fire service also has pumps which can float on the surface of pools and ponds in order to pump water to vehicles to be transported to fires often significant distances from the water supply. Other water supply equipment includes hydrants and other elements of standard water supply systems. Fire service also uses a variety of valves and connections on water systems in order to enhance the ability to access the water contained in the systems.
