Eye wear and Eye Protection :
Firefighters are routinely exposed to flying particulate matter while operating at the scene of fires where small pieces of highly toxic and extremely damaging products of combustion can enter and damage one's eye. Not to mention, the constant danger of broken glass from both access work on structure fires and extrication work around all types of transportation devices. Firefighters use goggles, eye shields, and safety glasses for their eye protection. Hearing protection is also a major concern firefighters as they routinely exposed to very high decibels from both Sirens and the tools they use to complete their jobs. Firefighters use ear muffs and a variety of ear inserted products to protect the ear from these high noises.
